Cooking with beer
Beer is originally a national drink. In the 17th century,
there were a lot of beer brewers in the Netherlands. People did not
drink water and everybody drank beer. Beer was also a common
ingredient in the kitchen. Over time, this tradition was slowly
lost. This is a shame, because beer is perfect for cooking.
Especially Grolsch Herfstbok, with its warm, sweet, spicy flavour.
The acid in beer tenderizes the meat, just as wine does. The
alcohol in beer vaporizes during the cooking process, so this is
not an issue. It's the flavour of the beer that brings an
exceptional aroma to dishes.
Bock beer festivals
Just as in previous years, the introduction of Grolsch
Herfstbok will naturally go hand in hand with bock beer festivals
in several cities. For example, there will be bock bier festivals
in the birth city of Grolsch, Groenlo, in Hengelo, Zwolle, Kampen
and Zutphen, among others. According to tradition, the first
barrels will be ridden by horse and carriage past different
supermarkets and establishments.
Here's to the taste of Grolsch Herfstbok!
